EFFLUVIUM

THE BIG TEN

With Iowa's win in the Orange Bowl, I think that the 'home region' did pretty well this season. Led by the Buckeyes bullying Oregon in the Rose Bowl, I think that the conference did very good. Even in losses, by State and Northwestern, the conference looked good.

Wisconsin's win over Miami was the best barometer of how competitive the conference was. Line up and hit 'em in the mouth. All that flash and dash only works when you are flashier and dashier than the other team.

Which is why Texas is going to win the national championship. Follow the logic and you will understand. The SEC is a tad overrated and that means all of the tough wins that Alabama has, have been overvalued. Florida has lost more than a step. Tim Tebow has defincencies that were finally exposed as the supporting cast were not as good as previous teams he played for.

So Alabama only beat another 'good team'. There is a lot of hype around them, and I don't see them as superior to Texas. What is going to happen when the Crimson Tide can't run the ball?

Colt McCoy for Texas is a superior quarterback. I like that they had to survive Nebraska to get to the championship game. I want to believe it hardened them and will make them tougher.

CRAP COMMERCIALS

There are two that makes my stomach ache particularly when I see them. One is this Prevacid commercial here. I don't get it... how could an upset stomach be a concern to her love life?? Unless the cat can 'hit that' to the extent that it makes her want to puke...

Another commercial that irrates me is the Taco Bell ad where the guy goes in and requests for a particular cashier to take his order. The implication is that the deal is so good, he figures that it has to be a hook up. The first cashier looks pissed as she goes and gets the other girl. Then she hovers over the 'hook up' girl as she takes the order.

Anyone who has gotten a 'hook up' knows that they shouldn't put their 'girl' in trouble like that. He looks pretty stupid leaning in to the counter. "Is that cool?" He looks around like he doesn't want to get caught being a total nincompoop. Buy the damn burrito already!

It is difficult to say that there is an anti-guy bias going around, but I see how bad that television portrays men and characterizes them as buffoons. And it makes it difficult for cats who are attempting to be something or someone else to actually make that transition.

Kind of pulling for Alabama since they have not been to the big game lately.

I agree wholeheartedly about both commercials.
