FOR BETH (plus, I like do what I wanna do!)
I like all kinds of music, for real. That I am posting videos are a super good sign for me. It means that I really getting comfortable and relaxed. But not so relaxed that I can't 'react' and do what needs to be done. I call this state, one of being in 'dynamic tension'. Sharing some of the music that I like, these particular songs that have a significance to me, hopfully adds a little texture to my scribbloggings.
Don't know if the Untouchables did anythning else after this self-titled album, but it was hype enough for me. There wasn't an actual 'mod scene' at my high school, but there was a self-styled 'Rude Boy' clique, who set their act to Morris Day and the Time (a way cool band ... in fact, I liked Prince and his 'family' as well). But I don't remember any real Mod hip cats walking around in school.
I saw the video for this song, and immediately took it as an anthem of sorts. The band look likes they are have loads of fun, and are really into the spirit of the song. Fairly straight forward, as it is advice for one of their friends who has let himself get caught up somewhere.
The song is a general policy statement for me, on how I regard my own 'leadership style' (thanks for the idea, Ken!!). There isn't any 'slamming' or making someone feel worse for letting what happened to them, happen. Instead, you get 'me' acknowledging that they want for you something better, and that you deserve better. But, you have to take control of whatever it is that is bringing you down, and 'free yourself'.
Like I did.
NOTE TO SELF
Man, il fait froid! Last night , I was complaining to Nebraska that the front derailluer on my bike (the thingy that changes the big gears on a bike) broke yesterday. She mentioned that perhaps I was having all the mechanical issues because it was so cold out. Thought about it for a second ... then watched the local news, which was all about how cold it was. Then, my Dad asked me when he came in, 'what am I doing outside?' in the weather. So I am taking today off. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow, and the weekend is expect to be flat out nice.
The meet with the rehabilitative services counselor went well. I would really like to find a job, to get me out of the house with a purpose, as opposed to just being 'out'. Maybe meet some cool enough people and hang out. I can hope, can't I?
Besides, I am livin' till I'm dead!!

Awesome! Don't know if I have anything by the Untouchables, like on a compilation disc, but I do remember them. Man, that just makes me wanna dance.
What does "il fait froid" mean? I'm a German girl. :)
It IS supposed to warm up nicely this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it!
Glad your meeting went well...fingers crossed for a job!
Love, Beth
The pressed aluminum they use nowadays on bikes does not like the cold much, has a tendancy to just snap.
Hope they find you a bit of work :o)
Good luck.
Ken is right about the bike
