Actually, Nothing Much ...

... to say. Loved the game, because it was such a good game. Not artistically, because there were penalties, and for a while, the only 'explosive' play was the big linebacker, James Harrison rumblin' down the field with an interception.

The second half was full of the dramatics that great stories are made of. No one lost that game ... the Steelers won it, and they won it the same way that they have won all season. They hung tough and played hard, and when it came time to seize the moment, they did not panic, but did what had to be done.

SLC PUNK

For whatever reason, I saw Joe Strummer in that movie. Super cool film, one of my favourites.

I remember how I felt when I heard that he passed. First, I didn't realize how close we are in ages! I was like, "Man, you got to get it done ... and soon!" This renewed sense of urgency is where my decision making over the past two years have sprang from.

The Clash is a band that I sorta followed in their splintered form, Joe as a solo artist, and Mick Jones and Big Audio Dynamite. I was working still, sitting in the office when this song came on WDET (man, I miss the ol' NPR station ... loved the programs they had on the weekends ... not to say WUOM isn't great too, but WDET was fun!). When 'Global A Go-Go' came out, I went right out to pick it up after hearing 'Johnny Appleseed'.

That Joe was from a well to do family, a Brit diplomat, would contrast his punk image. But he really had the passion for his life's interests, and it was reflected in his music. The chorus, with the line "If you out there gettin' the honey ... you don't go killin' all the bees" is actually sound advice, if you think about it some.

THE BIG PICTURE

Now that I have made it to February as about as well as I could have hoped, got to set my feet and get to work on what's next. Have to talk to Sandie and get details about our arrangements. Tomorrow is the job thingy, and Wednesday is a doctor's visit. Then the month of February would essentially be done. Perhaps I will start letting myself think a little bit more about the summer and making sure that KT has a nice visit. And after that ...

... after she goes home, I can think more about me, and heading out.

I loved the Clash back when I was in college, and still think they're one of the best bands ever. Hard to believe Joe is gone. He had his hand in a lot more than just the Clash.

The game was fantastic! One of the best I remember seeing (other than the one where my Colts won!).

Hugs, Beth
