THREE FOR TUESDAY!

I LIKE THEM ALL EQUALLY BUT ONE I LIKE FIRST

BLACK HOLE SUN - PAUL ANKA

BLACK HOLE SUN - SOUNDGARDEN

BLACK HOLE SUN - CIBO MATTO

Paul Anka is a cool cat.  Seems a lot of the guys between 1950 and 1970 just had an air about them where cool came naturally.  He did an album of covers of grunge music and he did all of them justice.  Listening to his voice brought back a memory of SD and me on the lawn at DTE listening to Tony Bennett.  I am sure there is that kind of spot here in Omaha and I wonder if I can talk Nebraska into doing a picnic thing beneath the stars with me?

Though Pearl Jam and their front man Eddie Vedder seemed to be the darlings of the grunge set from the Pacific Northwest, I did not much like him or the band.  Nirvana and Soundgarden were the two bands that I was into.  Chris Connelly's voice hits me in the back and leaves an ache that feels like the realization that no matter what, you aren't the one and it will never be you, no matter what you do.

Finally, we have the girls from Cibo Matto!  Recently, there was an annoucement that they were getting back together.  As far as style... I dunno, I used to think of them as having a downtempo, trip-hop sound.  A way cool video brought the duo to my attention and if I am correct, the show that I saw them on is going to make a comeback soon.

If I there was a poll utility ... the 'layout' tab has disappeared from my blog, but I would not mind if you, dear reader and friend, left in a comment which version of 'Black Hole Sun' you liked.

Paul Anka is classic; would love his songs on the oldies station.

Soundgarden takes me back to middle school!

SOUNDGARDEN! I was way into that song when it came out...it almost became my Helter Skelter for a while.

I saw Soundgarden in concert. My ex was a fan. It was a good show.

Love you, Mark.

Good old Smokie! Even though they never were a huge favourite of mine, just hearing their name again set off a lot of songs playing inside my head. Music sure is a good reminder.

Love

I used to hear a neighbore sing: Black~OLD~Sun, over and over when the Soundgarden song was popular.
Anka is a secret pleasure of mine.
Last time I saw a shot of him he looked remarkably well preserved.
