AND THE PEOPLE ARE DRIFITIN' FROM DOOR TO DOOR... CAN'T FIND NO HEAVEN I DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GO

HARD TIME KILLING FLOOR BLUES

The scene is where Everett (George Clooney), Pete (John Turturro) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) are chillin' with Tommy Johnson (guitarist Chris Thomas King) after rescuing Tommy from the clutches of the neighborhood Klu Klux Klan. The full song can be found here. Found myself feeling this way when I woke up on Sunday wondering about what it is going to be like moving west. Finally.

I didn't run on Sunday, keeping that for the next day which I will blog about later. Instead I got up and rode the bus to Meijer's where I picked up a pair of State flip flops that were on sale. Walked a half mile back to Plymouth Road so I could sit on one of the benches on the corner there. It wasn't long before the #38 came and I got on. Since it was Sunday the route wasn't going downtown but winding its way to the east side of town, ending at Miller and Gratiot. Growing up in Detroit, I never had too much reason to go on the east side, a few times to train over at either the Cannon or Coleman Young recreation centers or the odd 'Game of the Week' high school football game at Martin Luther King high school. In fact, it would not be until I was an adult and started up with SD that I even spent much regular time over on that part of town.

As the bus wound its way, it felt as if every apartment vacancy sign was lit in neon. Some were sketchy and prolly were with good reason. Others, like the ones above storefronts in Hamtramck were quirky enough for me to put their number in my phone. On the ride back, I began to account for all the 'known unknowns' that would be involved with living there. I would have to figure out how to get to the places I'd want to go to all over and then getting used to mixture of people that live there. No different than the adjustments that I would have to make in Omaha. Still, I would have more control over things than I do now.

Been draggin' today. Up since 6:15 a.m., but I haven't gone anywhere. After I publish this I will go to the gym and then to the library to take back movies. Watched some good ones, 'Chocolat' and 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'. But it was 'A Brief Encounter' that was the best of the bunch. One of the things about 'Chocolat' was I don't think that I saw the same movie that drew all the raves and accolades that it did. I mean it was cute and all but it reminded me of a Tea Baggers version of Nirvana until the chocolatier came to town.

I think when it comes to difficult times or choices, how you flow with the changes makes all the difference in the world. Kind of like swimming against the current. It takes more effort, than to simply go with the flow and see where it carries you. (Hugs)Indigo

Thinking that a change of scene, Omaha style, is in order. You will never know if you do not venture out for just you, period..
