BEING PERFECT
Sometimes the television show is so good that it blurs how strong a movie 'Friday Night Lights' was.
There aren't many things (at least not to me) that I would have liked to have done in high school, but when it comes to football...
We didn't have a football team when I was in high school, the only public school in the city that didn't participate in the sport. Que sera. The notion of sacrifice to achieve a goal and unity in purpose are things most easily learned in the most demanding of sports.
The definition of perfect is what caught my attention in this scene. For me it has been very elusive, finding that kind of perfection. There aren't many people I can say that I have been perfect for and it makes me question if I could be that 'perfect' for anyone ever again. After all, if I am going to ask of that kind of effort from another person then I am going to have to be able to give it, right?
Anywho... went ahead and got my plane ticket for Omaha. That was the easy part. The hard part of that is going to be getting on the plane itself!

How about excellence, rather than 'perfect', Mark?
And yes, the more you bring to the table, the more likely you are to find a match in it in return...
A quiet person at peace inside is unlikely to date a rage-aholic.
A person who communicates clearly is unlikely to remain with someone who plays head games.
Someone who is honest will by its very definition be unwilling and unable to be around a liar.
A person with healthy boundaries will likely not be able to be manipulated for long, etc.
A thoughtful person will not tend to be drawn to someone who is rude and inconsiderate.
When those 'mis-matches' happen, there is usally a lesson to be learned. The two fit well in their dysfunction ONLY when it works just fine for one of them to play victim and with a myriad of excuses and rationalizations, not take repsonsibility for leaving
Have fun in Omaha:)
leaving on a jet plane. . .
it takes a lot of stones to keep on when the chips are down. you will bloom wherever you choose to plant yourself, no matter how many times you have to repot.

You got those stones, man. And perfect? You don't need to be perfect for anyone but you. But in being perfect for 'you', you will find yourself being perfect for all you encounter.
Got your e-mail, and will be doing my thing in the next week. Glad you have something to focus on.
I think you will do just fine in Nebraska, Mark. I know the best few months have taken a hit on you, but like I said before, you are a man of plans that executes them. I believe as the time comes, it will be "easy" to get on that plane
