WHAT YOU KNOW ‘BOUT ME..?
I have seen challenges like this one out in the blog-o-sphere and I think about adding to them but rarely do I join in. It isn’t that my cynicism juices begin to flow when I see them but sometimes I will go down the ‘list’ of the challenge and I will find a few items that don’t apply or feel awkward for me to answer. Then, I will get bogged down and let a day or two slip past without an entry and I don’t try to catch up.
But a friend of a friend who I consider a good friend is down with with it so I am going to give it a go. The first challenge is to ‘declare my love for an uncool TV show’. I think that it is redundant in a way, because watching the reruns of ‘Fraiser’ and the rest was discussed previously I did not think that I could find another ‘uncool’ show that I regularly watch to list. Spoke about watching Discovery Science here and I have already championed ‘Through The Wormhole With Morgan Freeman’ as well in these pages. Besides, I don’t know what is ‘uncool’ about watching something that teaches and makes you think? When you think that I point to Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom as part of what pulled me to Omaha…
So what nerdy, unhip show that I watch qualifies? Does ‘Bill Moyer’s Journal’, ‘Frontline’, or ‘POV’ count as ‘uncool’? (and why do they count as 'uncool' anyway??) Dag, you can pretty much take your pick…
BUT THE WINNER IS…
The Dog Whisperer! My day is out of synch when I don’t catch an episode! Fortunately I have enough chances between the National Geographic channels each day. I would like to have a dog (Nebraska had pegged a boxer as a good dog for me… get it?) but I think that a dog would stress me out and in this little apartment, go insane. I like cats well enough and they have their own characters (but I remember what Winston Churchill said about them and I do agree with him!) and I think that is why you hear so many people willing to talk smack about felines.
THE LIL MAMMA VIDEO
What DO you know ‘bout me, whatcha, whatcha know me! This is DEFINITELY a song that I can picture my darling brother twirling and prancing around to!! This is not to say that I didn’t, but certainly not with the flair or panache as he could have. It used to make lil’ Mook laugh and MD roll her eyes when the song would come on the radio, because while it humored lil’ Mook, MD was like “Is this REALLY my man??”
“Lip Gloss” is the kind of song that comes to mind when I think of what would constitute appropriate, contemporary pop music. I don’t know if the girl made anything other than that but I can dig stuff like this as a song I wouldn’t mind if my girls (or boys if I had one!) had on their device.
Their device. MP 3, I-Pod, whatever. Another thing that I think is contributing to the decline of society is the ‘walls’ we live behind thanks to technology. Plugging in and tuning out is no longer a phrase but has become a ‘virtual truth’ thanks to virtual reality. We can excavate chambers within the fabric of the internet and leave the organic world behind… temporarily.
Like the bad messages that are communicated through pop music that allows people to leave their crap lives, the same thing happens when folks have to power down their computers and leave behind the wonderful person and life they live on-line. A lot of people fall like Alice down the K-Hole only, they have less self-confidence and esteem… could you imagine if Alice’s psyche was as malleable and easy to manipulate?
Anywho, I don’t think I have shared nothing that a regular reader couldn’t either already tell about me or make an educated guess about!

I consider some of the content of certain blog entries challenging. That is the only blog challenge I want. ~Mary
getting something written down in my blog right now is my challenge- and my horrid tv show is 'jersey housewives'

Cats are cool, just say'in.
The Dog Whisperer's "tips" don't work with any dog I've owned. I raise such strong-willed children!
I love to watch The Dog Whisperer too however I'm not sure I would ever practice his tricks on my dog. If I had one. Do you it works on kids? :D
Love
